Many of us have been following actor Charlie Sheen’s bizarre recent media blitz that has resulted in the production of his hit CBS sitcom being halted indefinitely. Now there is a new twist in the strangely fascinating drama surrounding Sheen. On March 1, Sheen’s ex-wife obtained a temporary restraining order against him. The order resulted in the couple’s infant twin sons being removed from his house.
According to an article in the Washington Post, Sheen told the Today Show in an interview on March 2 that he did not know where his children were at the moment. Appearing with his attorney, Sheen said that he was “getting very focused” on regaining custody of the sons. The sons were well treated in his home, he said, including “more love, compassion, support, childcare and everything else” they needed.
The restraining order reportedly is in connection to a pair of incidents. On February 23, legal documents filed by the ex-wife claimed, Sheen threw a phone in the ex-wife’s presence and threatened to stab her in the eye with a pen knife he had in his hand. The petition also described an incident where Sheen allegedly threatened to cut her head off and mail it to her mother.
A judge granted the temporary restraining order on March 1. Part of the terms of the restraining order was that Sheen would temporarily lose custody of the two boys. The ex-wife’s attorney told the court that the ex-wife’s mother would take care of the children while she spent time in a day treatment facility for substance abuse. The ex-wife would visit with the children for “several hours” each day, the attorney said.
